Every comparable metric on ConflictIQ, in plain language — what it measures, why it matters strategically, its source, and which direction is “stronger.” Values are the latest available year per country; vintages can differ between figures. The composite indices (CPI, CII) renormalise around missing factors rather than substituting zeros.

ConflictIQ is built and maintained by IQ Labs, and is a non-commercial research project. The indices are computed by open, published formulas from cited third-party datasets — no editorial scoring, no proprietary adjustment. Corrections are welcome and are recorded in the change log below rather than applied silently.
If a factor is unpublished for a country, it is dropped from that country's score and the remaining weights are renormalised. It is never filled with a zero, an average or a guess.
Each value on the site names the dataset it came from and the year it refers to, and links to that dataset's licence.
The factors in each index are chosen to measure separate things, so no input is counted twice.
Scores and tie-breaks are deterministic, so any change in a rank reflects a change in the data.
Weights and formulas are on this page, and the power index can be reweighted by anyone from the rankings page to see how sensitive the ordering is to them.

Every change to how a score is calculated, or to the data behind it, with the date it took effect. A method that changes without a record is not auditable.
Ranks made reproducible. Equal scores were previously left in an order that varied between runs, so identical data could produce different ranks. Both indices now break ties by ISO3, and a rank can only move when a score moves. Index-history snapshots recorded before this date should not be read as movement.
Militarized disputes switched from an aggregated 74-row country-pair slice to the full COW Dyadic MID 4.03 register, adding peak hostility per dyad and coverage to 2014.
Arms trade switched to the dyadic SIPRI Arms Transfers Register (supplier to recipient). Counts are transfers, not SIPRI TIV, and are labelled as such wherever they appear.
Added oil and gas self-sufficiency, computed as domestic production over primary energy consumption.
Added gold reserves (IMF, tonnes) valued at each year's spot price rather than a blended average, plus oil and gas production and four World Bank development metrics.
Projection years are no longer served as current values — IMF WEO forecast rows out to 2031 were being shown as the latest observation.
